THE CRITICAL PATH METHOD

The Critical Path Method (CPM) is a technique used to help schedules determine the longest path of activities, the shortest possible project duration, and the level of scheduling flexibility which exists.

In our video Chris Talmont, PMP Director of Program Management at Off Peak Training, provides an overview of how to perform Critical Path Method (CPM) to find the Critical Path and Float using a Network Diagram. It is aimed at project managers and schedulers preparing for the PMP and PMI-SP exams.

The goal of CPM is to use the network logic determined during activity sequencing and the estimated activity durations to find the path of project activities with the longest duration.

Once the critical path has been determined, it helps the project team understand the shortest possible duration allowing them to plan the longest required path.
